The results have indicated that these cells can get access to and further eliminate the malignant sites in patients. As a consequence, a large number of cell therapies have been widely used for increasing immune responses to more efficiently target and kill disease-associated cells, such as cancer cells. For instance, T cell therapy has been generated by transferring autologous or allogeneic T cells into target hosts to trigger passive immunization in patients. Meanwhile, modified T cells, including DC-CIK cells and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells, have been also considered as effective strategies for cancer immunotherapy, showing great success in diverse populations.
