Introduction to Immunotherapy
In the past few years, a wide variety of immune cells, including cytokine-induced killer cells (CIKs), dendritic cells (DCs), T cells, and natural killer cells (NKs), have been identified by many scientists and organizations. They have widely used for developing various cell therapies to treat human diseases, especially cancers. The results have indicated that these cells can get access to and further eliminate the malignant sites in patients. As a consequence, a large number of cell therapies have been widely used for increasing immune responses to more efficiently target and kill disease-associated cells, such as cancer cells. For instance, T cell therapy has been generated by transferring autologous or allogeneic T cells into target hosts to trigger passive immunization in patients.
